Riverside - 16 Station Road

For those who prefer to be more in the centre of things, Riverside is our town house which overlooks the Bodinnick Ferry and is situated just a few yards from the Caffa Mill Car Park and slipway. It is just a short level walk to the middle of Fowey.

This renovated fisherman’s cottage, with extensive views of the River Fowey and direct access to the water’s edge, has accommodation which is arranged on three floors. The front door is accessed via a flight of stone steps from street level. The upper ground floor has a natural oak floor finish throughout and is entered by a hall that has a small coat cupboard.

The kitchen and dining room intercommunicate through glazed double doors and there is a glazed patio door onto a large deck that overlooks the water. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a gas hob, electric oven, fridge, microwave and a dishwasher.

A bathroom completes the ground floor accommodation. It has a hand spray over the bath.

On the first floor there are two bedrooms, a double having river views and a twin overlooking Station Road. They share a small cloakroom with a wc and hand basin.

A further flight of stairs leads directly into a large sitting room that has been formed within the roof space. A large dormer window affords sweeping views of the river. There is a colour television and a sound system in the sitting room and a further sound system in the double bedroom.

The basement area was once a boat store but now houses the gas combi boiler that serves both the central heating and domestic hot water. There is also a freezer, washing machine and tumble drier. The basement area offers a useful storage and utility area for guests as it is accessible both from the street and the rear yard.

The rear yard has a flight of steps down into the water. It is possible, with the prior consent of the Harbourmaster, to moor a small inflatable or dingy against these.

Occasionally a spring high tide combined with strong southerly winds may cause flooding to the rear yard.

Due to the proximity of the water, the low window cills and the many stairs that are a feature of this cottage, we do not feel that it is suitable for young children or for those with mobility difficulties.

Parking is available at Caffa Mill, which is a public car park and therefore charges will apply. However, guests may leave a second car, a trailer or a boat at Penventinue Manor Farm.
