Fowey is a delightfully picturesque and unspoilt small town and port that nestles in a valley on the west bank of the River Fowey.  Little has changed over the last hundred years or so and the gentle pace of life provides a relaxing environment for those in search of a quiet holiday.

The town hosts two very different events.  The Daphne du Maurier Festival takes place over ten days in the middle of May and for those in search of relatively unsophisticated but hectic good fun, there is the Fowey Royal Regatta and Carnival for a week in August.

This area is ideal for those who wish to visit all parts of Cornwall while staying in a quiet and relaxing environment.  It offers particularly good walking country and is home of many of the country’s best gardens.  Both the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are a short drive away.

Cornish produce, particularly seafood and meat, is of the highest quality, as testified to by several celebrity chefs.  Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver both have restaurants in the county and there are many excellent restaurants and good pubs both in Fowey and nearby.

Welcome to Penventinue Manor Farm

Penventinue, which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book, has three cottages - Blackberry Cottage, Pond View Cottage and Wild Thyme Barn - with the owners' house just across the drive. Chris Lockett and Gilly Turner are permanently in residence at Penventinue Manor Farm and are always available to assist visitors in any way they can.

All the holiday cottages are equipped and furnished to a high standard. Each has a private terrace and lawn where visitors can barbecue or simply relax and enjoy the view.

Visitors are welcome to enjoy the grounds which extend to about five acres. Penventinue, or Pen'n'tinney as it is known locally, is a Cornish word meaning the head or source of the spring. This rises near the cottages and trickles slowly down into a pond and then into a small lake. The lake is stocked with a variety of carp and fishing is offered exclusively to guests.

Penventinue Manor Farm was once a very large and important farm but was slowly split up until it was reduced to its current size about 20 years ago. However there is still a selection of animals for the enjoyment of all guests. Our small flock of Jacob sheep are especially popular in April when they lamb. The two Toggenburg goats are particularly friendly as are our flocks of Muscovey ducks and our free range chickens.

All the holiday cottages are no smoking and there is a no pets policy. This is strictly enforced to accommodate those with allergy difficulties. If you are concerned about missing your animals do not worry - you can borrow ours. Our two Labradors, a yellow and a chocolate, are extremely friendly but two of our three cats are not quite so fond of human company.

If you do not feel like cooking everyday and do not want to drive, you can always take breakfast and dinner in our elegantly restored Victorian dining room or have a takeaway meal. For details click on Meals above.

Penventinue Manor Farm occupies an idyllic elevated location near to the centre of Fowey enjoying wonderful rural views with a glimpse of the sea. The Saints' Way runs along one boundary of the property and the South West Coastal Path is nearby.
